Rachel Stanyer
BVM&S, MSc WAH
Rachel graduated from “The Royal Dick” Veterinary College of Edinburgh in 2008. After she and her husband Adam travelled around the world, they fell in love with New Zealand and decided to make it their new home in 2015. Now they live here with their daughter Erin and their talkative and cheeky Eclectus parrot Wilson.
Rachel is our specialist exotics vet. She completed a Masters in Wildlife Health at London Zoo and has also gained her certificate from Otago Polytech in Avian Wildlife Health. Whether it’s an axolotl, a monkey or a tortoise, Rachel doesn’t judge, and is always there to make sure her patients receive the best care possible. She has a great wealth of knowledge when it comes to these ‘exotic’ patients and often takes on referrals from other clinics. She is amazing with our small pets such as rabbits, rats and guinea pigs and stays up to date with new information, ensuring their best possible care.
When Rachel isn’t taking care of animals, she loves to stay active with activities such as mountain biking and running.
