Adam Stanyer
BSC (Hons), BVM&S, GP Cert SAS - Practice Owner
Adam is one of the most experienced and capable surgeons within the wider Nelson Tasman region and he is one of the practice owners. He graduated from The Royal (Dick) Veterinary College of Edinburgh in 2008 and gained experience in the UK as a small animal vet. In 2011 he completed a 2 year post graduate certificate in small animal surgery which covered advanced surgical techniques. Adam thoroughly enjoys surgery and does a lot of our complex orthopaedic procedures, accepting referrals from clinics in the region and beyond. He also provides mentoring for younger vets helping them improve their surgical skill sets .
“When I was a new graduate, I had an amazing teacher, I didn't realise at the time how lucky I was. Now the table has turned and I am the one teaching, my aim is to give other vets the same support and guidance that I had. This in turn helps more patients”
Before moving to New Zealand in 2015, Adam and his wife Rachel volunteered on a Macaw research project in the Amazon rainforest. They brought their beloved dog, “Mr Brown” to New Zealand with them and fell in love the Nelson lifestyle. Now they live here with their daughter Erin and their chatty Eclectus parrot Wilson. When not at work, Adam indulges his love for mountain biking and Adventure racing, often exploring the local hills. Him and Brendan even won the GodZone 2017 pursuit race! He’s also known for his dad jokes, which keep the team entertained!
